Highlights of Objectives Achieved 2008-2011 and Prospective Achievements That Will Be Fulfilled 2011-2013

1. To continue to promote the importance of prison ministries to all churches in SECC.

  • Communications were sent to all pastors encouraging them to have a local church prison ministries team and to attend training seminars.
  • Communications were sent to each church encouraging them to participate in prison ministries either to the inmates or to the families of inmates.

 2. To encourage and assist churches in SECC who are ready to form or join other church prison ministries teams.

 3. To conduct a yearly conference-wide seminar/workshop to train coordinators and volunteers.

  • Conducted a conference-wide prison ministries seminar with Elder J. Alfred Johnson, II, and Cleveland Houser as guests at the conference office on February 17, 2008.
  • To continue to conduct follow-up seminars in each county within the SECC territory.
  • Conducted a conference-wide prison ministries seminar with guest presenters Arnold Trujillo, Pacific Union Conference; Themba Mzizi, Riverside Correctional Center; Michael Ashley, Touch of Love and New Beginnings ministries; and Gladys Eddy-Lee, San Diego South Bay church,  on March 8, 2009, at the conference office.
  • Invited Cleveland Houser, consultant of NAD prison ministries, as guest speaker for the conference-wide prison ministries seminar/workshop on March 6, 2010.
  • Conducted a prison ministries seminar on May 22, 2010 at the Yucaipa SDA church.
  • Follow-up area seminars at the San Diego South Bay church on September 12 and at the Riverside Kansas Avenue church on October 10, 2009.
